Customer Review: Works well but check your USB plug types

This product seems to work fine and is actually more compact than I expected. When plugged into my PC it is seen as a USB hub; in Windows 7 the drivers installed automatically. The quality seems fine although the USB plugs do not seem to insert as smoothly as the dedicated cables my device came with, but once seated they seem to transfer data fine.
I checked the manufacturer's website for more information on the type of USB connectors since I was not clear on which type I needed for various devices. It includes a 'Type B' which is pretty common for larger (3.25) external hard drives. Also included are a 'Mini-B' 5-pin, 'Mini-B' 4-pin, and 'Mini-B' 8-pin. It does not have a 'Micro-B' pin, which is what is needed for a Kindle. I found this a bit deceptive because the description on the Sima website clearly states that it works with the Kindle - not true, at least for a Kindle 2 or 3. Of course, it also states that it works with the iPad and that is also clearly false as there is no Apple 30-pin connector.
It works fine with my other devices, such as a Panasonic digital camera, an Olympus digital camera, a Sony Reader, and various portable hard drives. One nice extra is that the individual plugs are actually labeled, so if you're wondering which plug is the 'Mini-B 4 pin' now you can tell.
In summary, I'm keeping it because it works and seems handy, but I'm disappointed that it will not function with all the devices I'd planned on using it for (mainly my Kindle). I knock it down one star because of the misleading info on the Sima website.
